Yogic Journey classes are typically 60 minutes in length and all levels of experience are encouraged to come along and give them a try. Classes begin with short guided meditation. This practice helps to bring the student into the present moment and work towards letting go of the rolling thoughts in the mind.
Following this, the majority of the Yogic Journey class is dynamic and flowing Asana (postures). This practice increases awareness of the sensations within the body and reconnects us to the breath. Asana practice is a lovely way to stretch and strengthen the muscles whilst slowing down the thoughts in the mind. Throughout the class there is an opportunity to move into stronger variations of the postures, depending on how the body feels.
Yogic Journey classes are typically augmented with a final guided meditation, also known as Savasana or Yoga Nidra practice, which will leave you feeling calm and relaxed.
My name is Kristi Ackland and I am Yogic Journey's owner and principle teacher. I am pleased to introduce myself to you and offer you the opportunity to experience my style of Yoga.
I have extensive training in traditional Hatha Yoga and Meditation through the Australian College of Classical Yoga, where I'm proud to say my teachers and mentors include the ACCY Principal and Spiritual Director Swami Shantananda and Swami Karunananda. I am a fully insured Yoga Australia professional that can trace their Hatha Yoga lineage back to Bhagavan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri, India.
Mats are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own mat and a blanket.
Kristi is a wonderful teacher and has made it a very enjoyable experience. She caters for all levels of students and thoroughly explains everything.

Yoga with Kristi is my favourite part of Wednesday. I look forward to her classes because no matter what kind of week I’ve had I’m guaranteed to feel calmer, happier and grounded once I take her class. I love that she guides us through the poses and allows us to choose how deep we go through each pose so that she accommodates for all levels. I also love that by talking us through the poses she teaches us mindfulness in more than just the poses, through what she says. Her sessions also begin and end with meditation which helps se an intention to gain the most out of these classes. Kristi is an encouraging, caring teacher and a peaceful soul. I highly recommend her yoga classes to anyone of any level of experience.
